Ste: "As I was due on not long after noon I got an early train from Warrington and hit the beer at about 10. I started dodgily, but did ok once I had warmed up. The singer from another band joined me for an impromptu Hops and Barley, and two old Irish chaps formed a trio with me at one point. Just as I was exhausting every last solo possibility the promoter came along whispered: ‘the band after you have pulled – carry on mate!’ I murdered a couple more before saying I would only carry on if someone knew the words to 'The Trail of the Lonesome Pine' and would duet with me. A bloke called Boz knew it. The bastard."
