The beast awaketh

We have had a very quiet year so far, by our standards, thanks to work commitments and a few domestic matters requiring our attention. We have continued to rehearse, though, and have acquired a new van - pictured outside our Leeds base shortly before we got locked in a rehearsal room.

We are gradually coming out of our enforced semi-slumber, however, starting with a gig at Maguire's in Liverpool this Saturday (18 August), with Hummer, Spam Javelin and Sonic Rednecks. Our set will include a brand new song being played live for the first time: 'Got, Got, Not Got', a homage to pastimes past, and perhaps the first time that Arthur Albiston and John Chiedozie have been honoured together in song.

On 15 September we'll be returning to the Salty Dog in Northwich, warming up for our annual home town bash at the Rondy in St. Helens on Saturday 22nd September. It is always one of the highlights of our year, and once again we'll have an an all-original line up of DIY bands that we like very much and love playing with: Def Neon, Loudmouth and Hummer. Def Neon are a treat, and went down a storm at The George in February, so it is bloody good to have them at the big, full volume do. I have admired Loudmouth very much since first playing with them in Lancaster, many years ago, and am really pleased to have them in St. Helens for the first time. Hummer are old friends, and have close connections with us; the way they are playing these days, we are guaranteed to get us off to a good start. Entry is free, as usual, and there will be a donation point for St. Helens foodbank as usual, because no one should have to go hungry. You can find out more on the event page.

We will have sobered up from that in time to play in Stockport the following Saturday - probably. If not, we'll play anyway.

Give us a shout if you'd like us to play. We love it.
