In February we hosted our annual 'stripped down' bash at The George in St. Helens. We were very chuffed to have our friends Def Neon with us, and their sublime electro-pop made a big impression with the regulars at the George.
Since then the landlord and landlady there, Alan and Michelle, have announced that they are to leave at the beginning of April, after 13 memorable years. (The new owner wants his own management.) It really will be the end of an era - an era of quality German beer, wacky themed parties, and a marvellous, friendly atmosphere. We will be sure to go in a few time before them, to add to the memories before it is too late.
At the beginning of March we returned to the Old Town House in Warrington. We were supposed to be joined by W.O.R.M. and The Kingcrows, but the latter had to cancel that day due to the snow over the Pennines. We were able to land Italian legends CUT to replace them, at very short notice. Unsurprisingly, they were excellent, despite already having played once that night (in Manchester). They really are a top class rock and roll band.
We now find ourselves in the very, very unusual position of having no gigs booked - not one. The last time that was the case was in Summer 2006, when we were stuck without a drummer for a few months. In part it is a consequence of us focusing on writing a new album (more on that soon), to be released by the end of the year. We can definitely fit some gigs in however, so please do give us a shout if you would like us to play: if we can physically get there, we will do it. (We will, of course, be doing our annual Rondy bash in September - expect the date for that very soon.)
All the best,
Ste
